Description:

Applications are now open for the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority’s Reef Guardian Research Grants 2019.

 The grants support new management-relevant research that addresses key risks and threats faced by the Great Barrier Reef. The grants provide an important avenue for postgraduate students to contribute directly to improved future management of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park.

 The Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority’s Reef Guardian Research Grants program provides funding to students working towards a doctorate or master’s degree in the physical, biological and social science disciplines.

The Reef Guardian Research Grants 2019 program aims to support research which:

The grants are in the form of financial assistance, ranging from $1000 to $5000 for successful projects. They’re open to doctorate and master’s students in the physical, biological and social science fields throughout Australia.

Eligibility:

To be eligible, applicants must:

  • Be a postgraduate student studying towards a doctorate or master’s degree at an Australian university (or, in the case of overseas students, be a postgraduate student studying towards a doctorate or master’s degree and be sponsored by an Australian research institute or university);
  • Reside in Australia for the full term of the grant; and

  • Undertake the project in the Great Barrier Reef World Heritage Area and/or its catchment;

  • Past grant recipients with incomplete or unsatisfactory reporting of previous grant outcomes may be ruled ineligible to apply.

Opens from 10 December 2018 to 13 February 2019

Estimated Grant Value (AUD):

From $1,000.00 to $5,000.00
