This grant opportunity is part of the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations efforts to Close the Gap through the provision of employment services. In specifically supporting Priority Reforms 1 and 2 and the growth of the First Nations’ employment services sector, this grant opportunity provides funding to the National Indigenous Employment and Training Alliance (NIETA) to support the establishment and operation of NIETA as a dedicated employment peak body and to empower them to help build the capability of the Aboriginal community controlled sector to deliver employment services.

Having a sustainable First Nations peak body working proactively with First Nations Organisations and Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations is critical in delivering successful employment services and making genuine progress towards achieving the Closing the Gap Priority Reforms.

Through this grant opportunity, the Government is working in partnership with NIETA to ensure Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations and First Nations Organisations are aware of opportunities for support and capacity building activities for delivery of employment services.

To be eligible to apply, you must be the organisation listed below and: 

• Be an Australian incorporated organisation,
• Have an active Australian Business Number (ABN),
• Be registered for the purposes of GST, if required by the Australian Taxation Office, and
• Be a majority Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander owned organisation.
