Description:

The purpose of this grant program is to provide funding to grant recipients with expertise in the area of water and snow safety.  The activities funded through this program contributes to Outcome 4, Program 4.1 Sport and Recreation by supporting water and snow safety organisations to reduce the incidence of fatal and non-fatal drownings and accidents, and promote the importance of water and snow safety.

Eligibility:

To be eligible you must be the listed organisations below:

  • Surf Life Saving Australia (ABN: 67 449 738 159)
  • Royal Life Saving Society Australia (ABN:60 478 008 791)
  • Australasian Council for the Teaching of Swimming and Water Safety (ABN: 72 515 751 227)
  • Laurie Lawrence Swimming Enterprises (ABN: 33 010 903 296)
  • The Australian Ski Patrol Association (ABN: 26 369 760 601)

The organisations listed above have been assessed to have:

  • capability to deliver the project activities;
  • existing infrastructure and relationships to support the project activities; and
  • experience, knowledge and capability to deliver the project objectives and outcomes.

These organisations have a strong history of working collaboratively together towards the achievement of shared goals. The strength of the aforementioned organisations and the risks associated with providing funding to less established organisations leads to these being the only eligible organisations to receive funding under this program. 

As such, the Australian Government has decided that no other organisations are eligible to participate.

This approach will provide the best value for money for the department.

$39,146,125.00
