This grant program will provide funding for the development of a suitable career and life planning tool (smartphone/online tool) known as the Op Navigator.

The program was announced as part of the 2022 election to support Australian Defence Force personnel in career planning and their transition to civilian life. It is intended to better support the Australian Defence Force personnel transition to civilian life. The development of Op Navigator is to be undertaken by the Oasis Townsville, an Ex-Service Organisation (ESO), in conjunction with Defence.

The grantee is Oasis Townsville, (ABN: 53 624 166 196), an ex-service organisation and the homebase for the veteran community in Townsville, which has been identified as the appropriate recipient because:

• it has a well-established record of delivering the same or similar activities in particular, Operation COMPASS, the National Suicide Prevention Trial for veterans and their families
• it provides a ‘single front door’ for all members of the ex-serving veteran community in Townsville, including their families and current ADF members
• it has the required technical expertise to undertake the activities
• the nature of the grant activity is specifically dependent on the expertise of Oasis Townsville
• there are a limited number of service providers capable of delivering the project.
