Description:

NHMRC aims to provide assistance to Australian-based researchers who are participating as regular partners in multinational collaborative research projects that have been recommended for funding under the European Union-JPND Call for Proposals: “Understanding the mechanisms of non-pharmacological interventions” in the area of neurodegenerative disease.

JPND aims to tackle the challenge of neurodegenerative diseases and coordinate investment into research to find causes, develop cures, and identify appropriate ways to care for those with neurodegenerative diseases. The focus of this call is on improving the understanding of the mechanisms and biological substrates that underlie non-pharmacological interventions in order to tailor a holistic personalised treatment approach.

Eligibility:

To be eligible for funding under this grant opportunity Chief Investigators (CIs) listed as regular partners whose consortia have been invited by JPND to submit a full application may submit an application to NHMRC.

NHMRC will only fund applications with a key focus on one or several of the following neurodegenerative diseases, as identified in the JPND call text:

  • Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias
  • Parkinson’s disease and PD-related disorders
  • Prion diseases
  • Motor neuron diseases
