The CRE scheme will support research which aims to improve health outcomes and promote or improve translation of research outcomes into policy and/or practice. The CRE scheme will also support researchers in capacity building activities, including in specific areas of need identified by NHMRC.

CREs will provide support for teams of researchers to pursue collaborative research and develop capacity in clinical, population health and health services research. Funding will support three streams:

• Clinical Research
• Population Health Research
• Health Services Research.

Applications will only be accepted from NHMRC approved Administering Institutions. A list of NHMRC approved Administering Institutions is available at:

Applications must satisfy all the requirements set out in the NHMRC-CRE Scheme Funding Rules.
