PBS Program Name:
DISR 18/19 Supporting Science and Commercialisation
Grant Program:
Science for Australia's Future – Inspiring Australia
Grant Activity:
Implementing a sustainable whole–schoolapproach to teaching and learning
Purpose:
Staff at EDPS have been mentored by an Advanced Skills STEM Teacher in 2018 to support them in building their skillset to enable them to effectively teach STEM lessons. Mentoring has involved modelling best teaching practices, coaching staff, providing resources, scaffolded planning sessions and out of class support. In 2019, teachers will be upskilled enough to participate in a whole–school focus to teaching STEM. The establishment of a school maker space will provide the necessary resources to allow students across all grades to access materials and equipment to maximise their learning during timetabled STEM lessons. Resources purchased through this grant will be used to further the learning of all students in STEM.
