Aboriginal Bushfire Recovery Rangers
Purpose:
Establishing a team of already trained Aboriginal Rangers to undertake recovery activities on high conservation value and other lands affected by the 2019 bush fires across various land tenures within the Mid Coast Council area including Aboriginal owned lands and lands with Aboriginal cultural significance. Wildlife recovery activities include: wildlife surveys, vertebrate pest management, feed tree planting, installation of nest boxes, nest box numbering and monitoring. Vegetation recovery activities include: permanent growth plots, supplementary plantings, weed management (manual, chemical & traditional burning), vegetation management (cultural burning), erosion mitigation.
