To provide habitat, in the form of introduced hollows, for priority hollow-dependant vertebrates impacted by bushfires in East Gippsland. Treetec will mechanically install hollows of different sizes and designs, focusing on habitat preferences for obligate-hollow using species identified as Tranche 1 Priority which have species occurrence records in the region - Greater Gliders, Yellow-Bellied Gliders, Glossy Black Cockatoos, Red-browed Treecreeper and Gang Gang Cockatoo. The project will create refuges for priority terrestrial species known to utilise fallen logs and timber, which have historical and/or recent occurrence records in the area, including Smoky Mice, Broad-toothed rat, Southern Water Skink and Glossy Grass Skink.
