Purpose:
Employability through Sport Recreation ETSR is a program designed for young unemployed people living in Mandurah who are currently engaged with transition to work and jobactive providers. The aim of the project is to equip participants with valuable and essential employability skills, within the following five key skills areas: Employability, Communication, Self–Belief, Teamwork, Self–Management and Problem Solving. By mapping these skills against recreational and sporting activities it is anticipated that participants will have the ability to realise their potential whatever their career pathway.
The 8–week project will engage 12 young people to develop confident, healthy community leaders through sport and physical activity. The journey each young person will go on will focus on developing key skills in communication, self–belief, teamwork, self–management and problem solving. With these skills participants will learn how to work towards employment goals to enter the workforce.
