World electricity demand has reached electricity generation of 27,000 TWh in 2019. Although about 10% is covered by renewable, in order to meet this rapidly increasing demand, development of low cost and high efficiency photovoltaic cells is required. Metal halide perovskite solar cells are newly emerged solar cells with their solar energy conversion efficiency of >25 %. However, such high efficiency was achieved by employing toxic lead-based materials which limit their commercialisation. The aim of this project is, (1) to share the latest innovation through workshops and a conference (2) to strengthen and expand our existing Australia-Japan research network to develop low cost and high efficiency lead free perovskite solar cells.
