Grant Program:
Powering Communities
Grant Activity:
Solar system installation supporting people with disability
Purpose:
Northcott is one of Australias largest not–for–profit disability service organisations. Every year we provide dynamic and personalised support to 13,500 people with disability and their families across NSW and the ACT, including 2,000 residents of the Parramatta Local Government Area from our head office and service centre located in North Parramatta. The centres flat tin rooftop is an untapped asset for Northcott providing ample space to exploit the green energy savings of solar power, freeing operational budget to invest in service improvements that drive positive social change toward a more inclusive society. A feasibility study determined our energy requirements will be best met by a 100kW PV system which will reduce Northcotts electricity consumption by 12% and incur a payback of 5.1 years with a projected internal rate of return of 20.89%. Based on our current energy contract and past weather patterns, the solar system will generate approximately $15,000 energy savings annually for the next 25 years, empowering Northcott to lock in energy savings long term and lessen our environmental impact. The project will contract the supply and installation of a 100kW system comprising of 222 450W Perc Monocrystalline Split 72 Cell solar panels; Sungrow Inverter (SG110CX); ISO rated premium solar mounting and bi–directional solar meter. The timeframe for engineering, installation, and commissioning the 100kW project is 6–8 weeks from sign–off. The project will be completed by 30 June 2022, factoring in contingency for COVID restrictions, weather, product delays and network applications. Work includes associated electrical work, testing and certification, a comprehensive service agreement with 5 Year Performance Guarantee plus rooftop installation by the contractor with supply and use of scissor lift and forklift.
