Purpose:
This project will engage 15 Indigenous jobseekers in the Far South Coast region to undertake a 10–week training program with Illawarra Retirement Trust (IRT), qualifying for a Certificate III Training in Individual Support (Ageing). Participants will receive online theoretical training within the IRT network, providing home care services for Indigenous elders in the Batemans Bay, Moruya and Mogo areas. Trainees will participate in culturally significant online activities to learn more about the functions of the Booraja Integrated Home Care Service and the role it plays in supporting elders in the community. Following this, 13 participants will be selected for ongoing, permanent employment with Booraja Home Care. The project will also employ a full–time, ongoing Booraja Engagement & Recruitment Coordinator.
