Grant Activity:
THE e–CALCINER for Nano–Active Materials
Purpose:
Calix is an Australian technology company that has successfully commercialised a platform technology, the Calix Flash Calciner, for processing minerals. It has established a first–of–kind commercial scale plant in Bacchus Marsh, Victoria, to make nano–active magnesium–based products for water treatment, sewage infrastructure, aquaculture, agriculture and polymer processing. Following excellent early results, Calix now intends to build the e–Calciner to extend the CFC technology into the production of high value materials for advanced batteries, where the low cost products will be globally disruptive to the battery electrode market. It will also produce materials for supercapacitors, catalysts, food and healthcare products.
