Improving outcomes in patients with sepsis through precision medicine
Purpose:
Patients with life threatening infections may die or have major residual health issues. Previous attempts to treat such patients have focussed mainly on the infecting agent. It is now recognized that the genetic and biological make-up of the patient also plays a major role in the response to treatment. This work will improve the understanding of life threatening illnesses which will then be used to personalise patient treatments for improving outcomes with life threatening infections.
