Grant Activity:
Examining the ‘how’ and ‘why’ of blood cell gene regulation at loci relevant to autoimmune disease
Purpose:
Every person has a distinct DNA code, which is why some people get certain diseases and some don’t. This code is complex and we currently only understand a fraction of what it does. Our research aims to understand which bits of DNA code are important for causing autoimmune diseases. We will do this using new technologies, like subtly changing the DNA code and looking at the effect this has. Understanding how these changes influence disease can benefit clinical diagnosis and drug development.
