Grant Activity:
Tumour-stroma crosstalk in breast cancer: Deciphering and disrupting communications between cancer cells and cancer-associated fibroblasts
Purpose:
Breast cancer can be described as a play with many acts and actors. For approx. 20% of women diagnosed with this disease, there are no targeted therapies and for many more, recurrence and metastasis are major obstacles. Whilst tumour cells take centre stage in the diagnosis and treatment of this disease, it is now understood that fibroblasts play an important supporting role. Using novel methods to view and study this disease, my work will help to define the next generation of cancer therapies.
