Enhance the collection of the Australia Library
The grant has been used to primarily purchase non-Japanese books about fields in which Australia is globally recognized and areas in which it is gaining worldwide attention. In addition, the school’s library purchases Australia-related materials for its collection based on an acquired budget. A wide range of books on Australia that have been published in Japan are collected, and this includes the purchase of guidebooks and books on overseas study (studying in Australia) as well as books that approach the subject of Australia on a chapter basis. Japanese who lived in Australia prior to World War II have donated pictures taken at that time to us. We have a plan to digitize these pictures of historical value and make them available on the web as digital archives in the future. To build a digital archive, we will collect old pictures, records, research materials, etc., and proceed with digitization.
