Preventing Irreversible Vision Loss from Age-Related Macular Degeneration
Purpose:
Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is the leading cause of irreversible central vison loss in people over 50 years old. No treatments are available to slow or prevent degeneration of the tissue responsible for vision from the more common “dry†form of AMD. This project will use state-of-the-art imaging, vision testing and artificial intelligence to substantially improve our assessment of new treatments, and to gain critical insights into disease mechanisms, needed for treatment discovery.
