Purpose:
The main aim of this project is to provide weed management assistance and support to the landholders along a 6km stretch of Long Creek in the Drake/Rocky River area. This area along Long Gully Rd was devastated by fire in September 2019 and was one of the first major bushfires for the season. The focus of this project will be on managing the invasive weed Cats Claw Creeper (Macfadyena unguis–cati) through the use of a local contractor. This contractor has specialised experience in treating this particular weed in the sensitive riparian environment in which it is found. Action is time critical, therefore providing this targeted assistance now will bring the weed under control before it reaches the flowering growth stage once again.
