Grant Activity:
Induced pluripotent stem cell derived cardiomyocytes: a new therapy for "no-option" end stage heart failure
Purpose:
Heart failure costs in Australia are over $1 Billion p.a. with 50 percent mortality within 1 year (stage IV disease). This arises from the heart's limited capacity for self-repair. This project builds on our team's previous work with novel stem cell derived heart muscle, to take this treatment into proof-of-concept clinical trial in patients with 'no option' end-stage heart failure.
