Purpose:
An annual cross-industry, national promotion and celebration of reading, with a focus on Australian writers and their work, engaging with readers through author events and readings in libraries, schools and bookshops throughout the country. The anchor event is the Australian Reading Hour.
The Australian Reading Hour normally takes place in September, but as a result of COVID-19 it has moved to 12 November. The campaign has a major new element #AustraliaReadsAtHome, initiated in May 2020 to support readers in lockdown.
