National Emergency Services Tribute Wall
- GA4730-V1 - Updated Grant Start date & amended approval date (3-May-2018 )
The National Fire and Emergency Memorial Service is held annually at the National Emergency Service
Memorial on the banks of Lake Burley Griffin in Canberra.
Over 400 fire and emergency personnel who have died on duty, will be honoured on a Memorial Wall to be
constructed adjacent to the existing memorial site. This Memorial Wall will list all those who have died on
duty and provide an opportunity for further names should they be required. It will be a permanent and
fitting tribute to all those who have died fighting fires and supporting communities during emergencies.
The majority of these names to be displayed on the Wall are volunteers.
A website will be developed to support the Memorial Wall. This will provide further detail on the individual
and allow searching of names.
This initiative supports the Government's commitment to building our nations resilience through supporting
and recognising our nation's emergency services personnel, in particular volunteers.
