Purpose:
Disorders of colorectal function, especially constipation, are poorly responsive to drug therapy and are a substantial medical problem. This project should provide insights into the molecular basis for the voluntary defecation response that could provide the basis for novel therapeutic approaches to treat disorders of colorectal function.
