Purpose:
CQUniversity Australia (CQU) will collaborate with Australian Science Teachers, National Association of Agricultural Educators, AgForce Queensland, Cotton Australia, Northern Territory Farmers Association, Sugar Research Australia, Wine Australia, Gippsdairy and Australian Prawn Farmers Association to design and deliver the EXCITED 4 Careers in Agriculture project.
The EXCITED 4 Careers in Agriculture project will establish a unified cross–sector approach to delivering quality career guidance for K–10 students in rural & regional Australia by those that influence their career. Parents, career counsellors & teachers are key influencers of children's future career pathway and the messages they convey about jobs influence their aspirations and expectations, beyond what they learn in the classroom. Focusing on a commodity that is established or emerging as a significant employer in the region, the project will comprise of a range of innovative, locally–based activities to provide career guidance to primary & secondary students, and their influencers on jobs in the agricultural sector.
