Grant Program:
Career Development Fellowship
Grant Activity:
Reducing unnecessary tests and treatments across the lifespan: a behavioural science approach
Purpose:
Medicine has lengthened life and improved health worldwide. However, studies now show that people are receiving tests and treatments (e.g. medicines, surgery) they don’t need. This means that it won't improve their health but they may experience side effects or other harms as a result. My fellowship will use knowledge about how people think and behave to develop strategies to communicate about this problem to doctors and individuals of all ages. This will reduce the harms of overuse.
