Purpose:
Acute kidney injury is a common cause of death in hospitalized patients, with profoundly negative long-term health implications in survivors. It greatly increases the cost of healthcare. No effective treatments exist. New targets for pharmaceutical intervention are desperately needed to improve the clinical outcomes of patients with this devastating disease. This proposal using cutting-edge technology, bioinformatics, drug repurposing and molecular biology to develop potential treatment options.
