Grant Activity:
Stromal cell-derived factor Gremlin 1 promotes tumour growth and metastasis of breast cancer.
Purpose:
Breast cancer (BrCa) is the leading cause of cancer deaths in women worldwide. BrCa cells rely on features of the tumour microenvironment (TME) to grow and spread to distant sites. A heightened level of Grem1 is found within the TME of many cancers and is associated with increased tumour growth and blood vessel density. This study aims to identify the role of Grem1 in promoting BrCa growth and spread and identify Grem1 is a viable target as a new strategy for the urgent treatment of BrCa.
