Grant Activity:
Identifying novel pathways of red blood cell differentiation by CRISPR screening
Purpose:
Red blood cells supply all organs with oxygen and are essential to the health of all vertebrate organisms. Thus, disorders affecting red blood cells can have devastating outcomes for patients. In some diseases, blood progenitor cells fail to fully mature into red blood cells which results in a shortage of red blood cells. Hence, my aim is to better understand the molecular processes of red blood cell maturation to discover novel therapeutic targets for red blood cell disorders.
