Grant Activity:
Iodine supplementation in pregnancy to improve early childhood neurodevelopment: how much is enough?
Purpose:
The Australian Government recommends women take iodine supplements during pregnancy to optimise their child’s development. However, our studies suggest that too much iodine during pregnancy may lower children’s performance on tests of cognitive development. We will test if limiting iodine intake from prenatal supplements in pregnant women who already get enough iodine from food can protect the cognitive development of their children.
