Grant Activity:
Australasian Resuscitation In Sepsis Evaluation: Fluid or Vasopressors in Emergency Department Sepsis (ARISE:Fluids) Trial
Purpose:
Sepsis is a life-threatening condition, where the body’s response to infection results in organ damage. Patients with sepsis may develop severely low blood pressure. It is not known if it is better to treat this with large volumes of intravenous fluid, or to give less fluid and introduce medication to raise the blood pressure earlier. The ARISE:Fluids trial will investigate which of these strategies will save more lives.
