Heaven and Earth in Chinese Art: Treasures from National Palace Museum,...
The Art Gallery of New South Wales will present cultural treasures from the National Palace Museum, Taiwan (NPM), supported by a suite of educational programs and a publication providing rich insights into ancient Chinese history and culture for Australian audiences.
The exhibition ' Heaven and Earth in Chinese Art: Treasures from the National Palace Museum, Taipei' marks the first collaboration between the National Palace Museum and an Australian cultural institution. This rare exchange will highlight over 80 treasures from the National Palace Museum’s imperial collection, to explore the ancient ideology of ‘Tian Ren He Yi’, or a divine link between humans and nature.
Supporting programs are being carefully developed with Asian institutes and diaspora communities to be authentic and respectful across age, gender, cultural background and level of interest. They will feature an academic symposium, Lunar New Year celebrations, community-led programs (including some bi-lingual) and customised corporate events.
