Thermal Battery Development for Concentrated Solar Power Systems
Purpose:
Under the Global Innovation Linkages program, the project will develop a prototype laboratory scale thermal battery that will enable the future development of a fully integrated, full-scale thermal battery solution for the global Concentrated Solar Power dish-Stirling mirrors. The focus of this project is to develop gas-solid thermochemical energy storage systems that can be integrated into Concentrated Solar Power dish-Stirling systems. If successful this will revolutionise the landscape of renewable energy production world-wide. Energy storage is currently the Achilles heel of renewable energy, which is transient in nature. The development of a deployable and cost effective energy storage solution for Concentrated Solar Power will create a vector for renewables to truly compete with fossil fuels.
