Grant Activity:
Thalamic plasticity following cortical damage: recovery of vision
Purpose:
This project will investigate how neuroplasticity can contribute to vision recovery in adult brain, following damage to one of its key nodes. Normally, such lesions render the person blind, but some slight improvement occurs over time. We will test the extent to which newborn neurons can be integrated to other parts of this circuit in a manner that explains the partial recovery of vision, and whether a rehabilitation therapy can boost this process.
