Purpose:
To allow RSPCA Australia to contribute to animal welfare debate and policy development at all levels of government. The RSPCA provides a conduit between the community and government in relation to animal welfare matters. As there is currently no dedicated animal welfare unit in the Commonwealth government, the RSPCA carries out a function in providing a repository of expert advice and knowledge on animal welfare matters that would otherwise be unavailable. Good animal welfare practices are important to Australia's standing as a nation and trading partners are increasingly concerned with standards of animal welfare.
