Melbourne and Jeonju Creative Exchange Project with Children
Since 2017, ArtPlay has been building a cross-cultural partnership with Jeonju Cultural Foundation (FoCA) in Korea. The new Jeonju Creative Exchange Project involves Australian artist Jessica Wilson and three artists based in Jeonju, Yeo InYoung, Yoon Miryu, Park Suji, collaborating to create a set of digital journeys (The Journeys) built for children to experience in their own homes. Customised prompts guide children to use their own places and adults as the subject of one-on-one art projects. This exciting project will involve children in both countries in its research and testing phases before being made available for free in homes. ArtPlay and FoCA have invested in and begun the project’s first stage, and by October 2021 will have developed and tested The Journeys. With this application we seek to extend the project’s reach by; 1. Enhancing the Korean launch (in Jeonju International Forum of Creativity Imagination and Play, 24-31 October 2021) with innovative live video workshops with children in Jeonju and Melbourne. 2. Delivering a high-profile season of The Journeys for children in Victorian Cultural Diversity Week, March 2022 with another live video workshop project with children in both countries. 3. Creating a short documentary about the project, March 2022.
