UQ has partnered with Korea University’s School of Cyber Security, a leading institution in cybersecurity research including network security, digital forensics, automobile security, cryptography and AI security. UQ and Korea University will host a series of workshop sessions online (2021), in Australia (2022) subject to covid-19 travel regulations. The aim is to promote greater diversity in cyber security and share game-changing interdisciplinary research between Australia and Korea to address complex cyber security challenges, engage the wider research community including the researchers, industry experts and students. Some proposed sessions include ‘Automating cyber incident responses to critical infrastructure’; ‘Cybercrimes and cyber security’; ‘National security and cyber policies for enhancing regional cyber security capabilities’ and ‘Interdisciplinary cyber security education’. The initiative aims to build long term research collaboration and knowledge sharing for effective awareness of cyber security education and industry collaboration between academia and industry to better identify skills gaps in the workforce and priority challenges requiring immediate solutions for industry. Students will be able to participate, allowing them to learn more about the cyber security profession from experts and establish industry relationships.
