ASEAN+6 COVID-19 Policy Response Observatory
The 2020 outbreak of COVID-19 is a global disruption unlike any before. Many countries in Asia-Pacific region have responded to the unfolding crisis with remarkable agility, introducing a spectrum of economic, social, health, security and political measures. This project presents four analytical themes to inform the public debate and better understand responses to COVID-19 in ASEAN+6 countries. First, a GIS-enhanced visual interface depicting these responses. Second, a novel country-specific response index. Third, quarterly publications synthesizing the impact of these responses on domestic institutions. Fourth, a web platform that disseminates country-specific COVID-19 expertise at the ANU. The project complements the highly successful COVID-19 webpage at the Crawford School of Public Policy launched in May 2020 (https://crawford.anu.edu.au/covid-19). The project will serve as a regional public good informing policy debate and discourse through ongoing data reporting, visualization and analysis across critical policy areas among ASEAN+6 countries.
