Grant Activity:
A FRET-based protein sensor for RNA detection, localisation and analysis
Purpose:
The ability to detect specific RNA molecules is a key aspect of diagnosis and pathogenesis of a variety of diseases. Recent developments from synthetic biology have provided us with robust designer RNA-binding proteins which can be used as sophisticated tools for detecting specific RNA molecules to understand the molecular basis of numerous diseases. Applying cutting edge “single-molecule†techniques to prototype molecules we will develop these tools for application as RNA detecting biosensors.
