Purpose:
This project aims to restore and connect koala habitat in the Lismore and Ballina Shires. It supports landholders in enhancing and expanding habitat and connectivity through tree planting, weed control, and targeted threat management. Koala-focused workshops for landholders on habitat restoration and management will also be facilitated. The project's goal is to improve the health and resilience of the local koala population and help ensure their long-term survival. The project is supported by various organizations and will incorporate input from the local First Nations people. Koala Connect aligns with the NSW Koala Strategy, Regional Koala Strategy, the National Recovery Plan and Ballina and Lismore Shire Council Biodiversity Strategies.
