Grant Activity:
DP Solar Panels at Dixon Park SLSC
Purpose:
Detailed project description and key activities. The project involves the installation of a 20 – 22 kW Solar energy system (three quotes were originally obtained, all being very similar in cost and technologies suggested). The key features of the project are: 50 Solar panels (as per installers quote) with a 25 year product and performance warranty. 1 x 20kW Inverter with a 10 year manufacturers and installation warranty. Installation of the system . Monitoring of panel performance and electrical usage by the Club The STC No and Value & the CEC accredited installer and CEC approved products information supplied by the 'at this stage' preferred installer. The Club building was built in partnership with Newcastle City Council. The Club has a lease arrangement with the Council which covers maintenance and capital improvements. Permission has been granted by the Council for the installation of the Solar panels. In 2018, in partnership with the Newcastle Council, the Club updated aspects of the electrical system with a reduction of our electricity bill. The addition of a Solar System will allow further improvement in energy productivity and the delivery of carbon abatement. It is also consistent with, and supportive of, Newcastle Councils stated aim to reach zero emissions for its operations by no later than 2030 A key feature of the system is an online monitoring system. The monitoring will enable the committee to track electricity use and adjust electrical usage to better use the renewable resource to further reduce energy consumption. The production of electricity using a Solar System will significantly reduce our consumption of electricity from the grid. This will result in ongoing cost savings. Based on the system capacity and current electricity usage, the estimated saving would be $7,800 per annum with the system paying for itself in 3 years.
