Grant Activity:
National Symposium on the Future of Australia-Korea School Partnerships
Purpose:

IEAA’s proposed project, ‘National Symposium on the future of Australia-Korea School Partnerships’, aims to build bilateral education connections in the schools sector. The Symposium will be delivered online and will also include an online networking component. Digital recordings of the event and a follow-up report will be made publicly available to share key learnings and deepen impact.

Korea is an important market for Australian higher education, in terms of inbound international students as well as students participating in mobility and exchange programs. Australia-Korea schools partnerships, however, have not reached their full potential and are primarily focused on inbound study tours to Australia.

Before COVID-19, Australia-Asia school partnerships had been growing, particularly in China, Japan, Indonesia, Malaysia and Vietnam. This engagement provides numerous best-practice examples and other case studies for Australia-Korea schools stakeholders to learn from.

This high-profile, sustainable project will:
- Present best-practice case studies of Australia-Asia school partnerships;
- Acknowledge existing engagement between Australian and Korean schools and seed new connections;
- Recognise and showcase Australian expertise and excellence in international education that enhances our capacity to engage with Korean schools sector stakeholders; and
- Celebrate people-to-people experiences in Australia and in Korea as a catalyst for life-long connections.
