Purpose:
With the significant increases in electricity costs over the past decade, it is imperative for Surf Life Saving Queensland to install solar power on their community facilities to reduce costs and demonstrate sound environmental practices.
Installation of solar will significantly reduce our energy costs and reliance on the grid at the Carrara helicopter base. Expected savings will be directed towards SLSQ's services as the States peak aquatic rescue authority, for the benefit of SLS clubs across Qld and the community.
We will be installing 88 370kW panels in four banks across the roof the Hangar which requires no preparation work for installers. It is estimated the saving will reduce our electricity bills by 80%, save approximately 904 trees per annum and 17,070 kg of coal per year.
The system will be installed by a CEC accredited installer using CEC approved products to ensure the best outcome for our Club and the environment. The installer is based locally ensuring the economic return remains within our community.
