Humanized rat models - the next frontier in pre-clinical osteosarcoma research
Purpose:
This project will develop a novel rat model for Osteosarcoma (OS) research by generating a humanized bone niche, primary OS tumour within an immunocompromised rat model. The Investigator will use this novel model system to study OS surgical resection and subsequent bone regeneration. Local OS recurrence will be prevented using localised chemotherapy delivery, in combination with tissue-engineered bone regeneration techniques to advance limb sparing surgery and ultimately increase patient quality of life.
