The mouth as an expression of racial injustice: Building the evidence to foster an anti-racist dental health system in Australia
Purpose:
Racism and colonisation are key drivers of the profound levels of preventable dental diseases experienced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples. This happens via reduced access to, and poorer quality of dental care. Furthermore, racism was not recognised as a determinant of oral health in Australian dental curricula until last year. This project will develop the evidence required for structural changes that foster an anti-racist dental health system.
