Purpose:
Our team has successfully combined innovations from Australian startups with proven systems adapted from maritime and defence. We propose to repeat this winning formula for this project.
Visual and thermal cameras will augment and/or eventually replace human MMOs. Real–time Artificial Intelligence will run inside self–contained units and alert operators when whales are sighted.
In the feasibility phase, off–the–shelf cameras will be deployed for data collection onboard commercial tourist whale watching vessels. This process will utilize an industry standard 'virtuous cycle' of AI assisted data collection and labelling previously used by the team to deliver innovative Agriculture technology from concept to production in under 6 months.
