Purpose:
Under the Australia India Strategic Research Fund, this project will cross the genome to phenome divide in the crop legume plant Chickpea (Cicer arietinum) to enhance its drought tolerance. It will involve the development of genome and gene-linked proteomics and metabolomics focused on drought tolerance. It will use genetic resources from Indian and Australian partners and their expertise in the development of genome/protein/metabolite datasets that will define genomic variation and gene/protein expression profiles linked to drought tolerance.
