USING TIME AGAINST CANCER - IMPROVING RESPONSES TO CANCER IMMUNOTHERAPY
Purpose:
Cancers frequently grow back at the site of removal after surgery. I have found that surgery causes an increased local immune response and can expose vulnerabilities in cancer cells, which can be boosted by immunotherapy to kill any remaining cancer. Using gene mapping technology, I will discover how surgery impacts the immune response over time, in order to develop therapies that can be applied after surgery to kill remaining cancer cells.
