A revised tafenoquine dose to improve radical cure for vivax malaria
Purpose:
Tafenoquine (TQ) is a new treatment to prevent relapsing malaria. It is given as a single dose, which is a major advantage to the current primaquine treatment which needs to be given over 2 weeks. Recent evidence however suggests that the current recommended fixed dose TQ regimen doesn’t convey adequate efficacy. Our multicentre trial will assess the safety and efficacy of a revised weight-based dosing strategy of TQ. This trial is expected to directly influence global treatment policies.
