Purpose:
This year's program involves seven free community Science events that inspire public interest and create conversations between the general public and youth of Southern Tasmania. This will spark their knowledge and motivation in Science. This grant would allow EC to have the "Paper Pilots"? Flight School sessions for up to 240 young Tasmanians in the EC gym. 2019 is the International Year of Indigenous Languages. An Indigenous Film night in the EC theatre would be an innovative Science communication event for 160 adult members of the general public. Local indigenous scientists would speak at this event. Plus 5 events would involve partnerships with local scientists and scientific organisations focusing on astronomy and/or indigenous language.
